Head of Translational Biomarkers and Bioanalysis

We are seeking an accomplished and creative scientist to lead our Translational Biomarker and Bioanalytical function.  The ideal candidate has broad technical expertise across multiple bioanalytical and bioimaging platforms, and extensive hands-on experience with developing and implementing biomarker strategies to support discovery and early clinical stage drug discovery programs.  The successful candidate will play a key role driving deep understanding of the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of our novel bioconjugates, supporting our preclinical programs and innovative therapeutics.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and lead internal and external teams responsible for the identification, development and implementation of assays that support:

    • translational biomarkers of target engagement and early signs of disease modification.

    • pharmacokinetic characterization of our proprietary platform and therapeutics.

  • Drive cross functional collaboration to ensure seamless study execution and data delivery across the R&D pipeline.

  • Establish and manage external CRO partnerships, innovation hubs and internal teams to enable biomarker identification, selection and assay development.

  • Contribute to regulatory filings, data interpretation, and scientific publications to support program goals.

  • Mentor and develop junior scientists to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

  • Hands-on contribution and participation at the lab bench is a requirement of this role (approximately 50% of time initially, reducing gradually as Team grows and matures).

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biology/Biochemistry or a related field or M.S. with extensive relevant experience gained in biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven track record of strong scientific and people leadership and project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional and collaborative projects.

  • Experience contributing to regulatory filings and managing GLP/cGMP-compliant workflows is highly desirable 

Skills

  • Proven and current expertise with techniques that enable protein and oligonucleotide quantitation and characterization in biological samples.

  • Specific hands-on expertise with ELISA, IHC, ISH and spatial techniques for both protein and oligonucleotides is essential.

  • Skilled in various cellular, tissue and bone processing and fixation techniques to enable preclinical and clinical biomarker assay development.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
